Appointments
We know you have many choices when choosing a dentist in Chapel Hill, NC so we have made requesting an appointment a simple process via our Web site. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued.

As we make every effort to find an appointment time that fits your schedule with ours, please remember appointed times are reserved exclusively for each patient. Because of this we ask for 48 hours notice in advance of your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to keep your appointment. We realize that unexpected things can happen, but we ask for your assistance in this regard.

Insurance and Billing
Payment for all professional services is due the day of treatment. We accept checks, cash or credit cards. The parent or guardian who brings the child for treatment is responsible for payment. Southern Village Pediatric Dentistry does not participate in Health Management Organizations. Please understand that financial arrangements are made directly with you.

As a dental provider, we do not have a contract with your INSURANCE company, only you do. We are not responsible for how your insurance company handles its claims or for what benefits they pay on a claim. We will provide you with the information that your insurance company needs in order to minimize your time and effort in filing. Any reimbursements by your insurance company should be made directly to you, according to the terms of your contract with them.

Some insurance companies require pre-treatment authorization of the work to be done. They recommend an estimate of the work to be done and the fees to be charged before they determine their benefit to you. If so, we will provide you with the pre-treatment fee estimate and it will be up to you to determine if you wish to proceed with treatment before the insurance benefit is determines.

The cost of APPLIANCES is due on the day the impression is taken. This is required because the laboratory fee is due when the impression is received by the lab, not when the appliance is delivered to the patient.

All EMERGENCY TREATMENT must be paid in full at the time the service is rendered. If an emergency occurs after normal business hours, an “After Hours Office Visit Fee” will be assessed and you will be billed the next business day.

We do offer HEALTHCARE FINANCING through Capital One. Once again, this becomes a contract between you and the financing partner.

Your understanding and cooperation with this policy is greatly appreciated. You are helping us keep our overhead expenses low, which in turn keeps our fees as low as possible.

Facilities and Equipment
Our facility offers plenty of natural light with a beautiful view of Chapel Hill from all treatment chairs. In addition, we are equipped with the newest technology, including a truly paperless office and digital x-ray equipment, reducing the radiation exposure to your child. We also have nitrous oxide (laughing gas) capabilities for dental procedures.
